France will receive 2,500 Ukrainian refugees arriving in Moldova as part of an operation coordinated by the European Commission, Gerald Darmanin, Paris’s interior minister, was quoted as saying by Le Figaro daily on Friday night.
“The European Commission is coordinating a transfer operation of Ukrainian refugees in the Republic of Moldova to countries that want to receive them,” Gerland Darmanin said on Twitter.
“At the request of the President of the Republic, France announces that 2,500 Ukrainians coming from Moldova will be received on French territory. This is the first major operation of its kind,” the French interior minister said.
