From now on we can tune in to the national holiday on Friday in the Buda Castle District; “Be a cannon!” – The new exhibition entitled Áron Gábor and the Szekler Heroism will open on March 11 in the building of the newest reborn Főőrség.
On the 174th anniversary of the Revolution and the War of Independence of 1848–49, the Szekler cannon-casting hero, the legendary figure of the Székely National Museum’s war of independence, is commemorated. Áron Gábor in addition to the only surviving iconic copper cannon, plots associated with the dominant figures of the revolution and the war of independence can also be viewed daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The unique exhibition is supported by the HM Military History Institute and Museum and the Szekler National Museum with the support of the Castle Headquarters. The co-exhibition of the National Széchényi Library entitled Vershaza undertakes to present the ensemble Anthem, the Szózat and the National Song.
The exhibition entitled The Hauszmann Story with updated development content will be on display in a new location in the exhibition space above the reborn St. Stephen’s Hall in a new location in the southern connecting wing of the Buda Castle from 11 March.
The multimedia exhibition presents the life and work of Alajos Hauszmann, the history of the buildings of the Buda Castle District and the current developments of the National Hauszmann Program with the help of modern tools. The exhibition can be visited with a ticket to St. Stephen’s Hall from 10 am to 6 pm from Tuesday to Sunday.
A reminiscent hussar patrol service will start on March 11 with the riders of the National Equestrian Decoration Unit, the Honvéd Hussar Decoration Unit and the Hungarian Hussar and Tradition Preservation Association.
The presence of hussar patrols in the Buda Castle District is a popular tourist attraction in the name of preserving our national defense traditions and cultural values.
As part of the Castle Garden Literature Apostrophe Evening series, a performance entitled One Woman, More Than Just a Woman látható will be held on March 11 at the Castle Garden Bazaar, where viewers can gain insight into the thoughts and lives of women who have defined history, as well as Júlia Szendrey’s diary and correspondence.

Free programs await families on March 15 in the lobby of the Castle Garden Bazaar. At the Hussar Academy, four slime hussars hold trainings for children. In addition to the craft classes, the Fabula Puppet Theater will perform the traditional fair puppet show László Vitéz and the Devils in the morning, and in the afternoon the cheerful piece of the Mask Puppet Theater entitled The Cunning Wonder Doctors awaits the audience with large puppets and live music.
On the evening of March 15, at 19:00 in the Castle Garden Bazaar, there will be a performance entitled The Revolution of Actresses, which will allow us to fly back to the Reformation and learn how the six famous writers of our time hid in the skin of the most famous female figures of the 1848-49 revolution.
