TKH women compete with the renewed Royals Saarlouis Basketball Bundesliga Hanover
While numerous league competitors are being slowed down by corona waves, the women’s basketball team at TK Hannover is getting going again. The forced break in January threw coach Sidney Parsons’ team off track. The lousy record: four bankruptcies from five games. Most recently, however, there were two wins in a row against Herne and Heidelberg. “Now other teams are affected. But we found our rhythm again. Training and games are fun again,” Parsons is relaxed about the positive trend. On Thursday (6 p.m.) TKH will continue to score points at the Royals Saarlouis.
Like “the first time” against a completely renewed Saarlouis
The game was postponed in January, originally to Wednesday, recently by one day to Thursday. TKH won the first leg in Hanover at the start of the season 73:68. “But the opponent is completely different now,” says Parsons. Change in the coaching position, numerous additional commitments in the squad – “They are now much more dangerous,” warns Parsons and wants nothing more to do with the first-leg success. “It’s almost as if we’re meeting them for the first time.” With the new coach Isabel Fernandez, success came back. And Leah Scott is one of the top points scorers in the league. Even if Saarlouis recently lost three times in a row, “we shouldn’t underestimate them,” says Parsons, who still have to do without Karolin Tzokov and Emm Stach.
Battle for a good play-off position
The hosts, as a neuter, are still fighting for a place in the top eight eligible for the play-offs. The lynxes are sure to be there after the two wins, but it would be desirable to move up to third or fourth place. Then TKH would have home rights in the first play-off round for the first time in its Bundesliga history. Wasserburg is still coming on Sunday, and at the end there is a catch-up game against Keltern.
