Hannover Indians regain fourth place
Reading time: approx. 4 minutes
The Tilburg Trappers made it into double digits against the Black Dragons Erfurt, getting within 0.04 points of the Scorpions. Fourth place is also up for grabs. The Hannover Indians overtook the Icefighters Leipzig after the game, but will face the Hannover Scorpions tomorrow.
Hanover Indians – Icefighters Leipzig 4: 1 (2: 1, 2: 0, 0: 0)
The game of the day also featured top league ice hockey. Both teams put in a good performance and it was not for nothing that guest coach Sven Gericke was satisfied with his team’s performance after the game. At the subsequent press conference, he emphasized that the lack of rhythm in the game was the main problem. The same was true for the Hanover Indians, who seemed excited from the start and pinned Leipzig in their zone. Particularly impressive in the first third was Hannover’s Canadian Parker Bowles, who was responsible for the first two goals, and his 2-0 win alone was almost worth the entrance fee. His solo run with a finish, in which Leipzig’s excellent goalkeeper Eric Hoffmann had no chance at the end, was excellent. The tide seemed to turn after the Icefighters scored the next goal in the second period, but the Indians were undeterred. They continued to play their part and when Branislav Pohanka scored from the crowd and a few minutes later Robin Palka even scored the 4:1, the Indians victory seemed clear. But the fans had reckoned without the indiscipline of their favorites. Shortly before the end of the second period, Mike Mieszkowski, and shortly before the end of the game Branislav Pohanka, each received a five-minute penalty that was absolutely unnecessary. Leipzig could not use these advantages, but Mieszkowski will miss the Indians against local rivals Hannover Scorpions on Wednesday (8 p.m.) tomorrow. In the end, the Indians had the edge and overtook today’s opponent and are now 0.02 points ahead. Wednesday will show whether the lead will last when the Indians meet local rivals the Hanover Scorpions (March 9, 8 p.m.). Both teams are in great form at the moment and it will be interesting to see if the Scorpions can extend their winning streak against the Indians to ten straight wins. In any case, the Indians defense will be challenged, with goalkeeper Jan Dalgic standing out on Tuesday evening. Dalgic, who even scored a point, showed a performance worthy of the second division (95.2 percent catch rate) and could only be defeated by a goal from Felix Stopinski. On the other hand, Leipzig’s goalkeeper Eric Hoffmann was also the rock in the surf and was able to impress with 89.2 percent despite the statistically weaker performance.
Goals: 1: 0 (03:32) Parker Bowles (Möller, Dalgic), 2: 0 (15:10) Parker Bowles (Pohanka, Mieszkowski 5: 4), 2: 1 (18:46) Felix Stopinski (Burns, Slanina), 3: 1 (23:39) Branislav Pohanka (Bowles, Möller), 4: 1 (28:35) Robin Palka (Möller)
Tilburg Trappers – Black Dragons Erfurt 10: 0 (4: 0, 3: 0, 3: 0)
The encounter between the Tilburg Trappers and the Erfurt Black Dragons was a rather one-sided affair. The Dutch pressed and stormed the full game time and hardly gave the guests time to breathe or counterattack. In the end it was 50:9 shots on goal in the statistics for the hosts. The best players were once again Brett Bulmer with four points and Ties van Soest, who scored three points. And junior player Marvin was always able to celebrate. He scored his two points of the season, his first goal for Tilburg and was even the best Trappers player in this category with 100 percent first shot efficiency. At Erfurt, some with young players and at least 13 field players, you got the impression that they hadn’t thought they had a chance from the start and just wanted to save energy for the pre-play-offs.
Goals: 1:0 (07:05) Raimond van der Schuit (Bulmer, Vogelaar), 2:0 (07:54) Ties van Soest (Stempher, Hessels), 3:0 (10:01) Brett Bulmer (4- 5), 4: 0 (16:12) Nico Hessels (de Hondt, van Soest), 5: 0 (29:18) Brett Bulmer (Verkiel, Hermens), 6: 0 (29:56) Max Hermens (Müller, Bulmer), 7: 0 (32:28) Marvin Timmer (de Bonth, Hessels), 8: 0 (45:27) Raimond van der Schuit (Müller, van Oorschot), 9: 0 (49:06) Reno de Hondt (van Soest, Stempher), 10: 0 (58:42) Giovanni Vogelaar (Hessels, Timmer)
EG Diez-Limburg – Crocodiles Hamburg 3:10 (1:2, 1:6, 1:2)
In front of 136 spectators, Limburg was only able to keep up a third. After that, the Hamburgers took control, scored five goals with a double and a triple within three minutes and then took it a little easier. The best Limburg player was Steve Slaton with two points, while Hamburg’s Adam Domogalla scored five points and Sam Verelst with four points.
Goals: 0: 1 (05:27) Constantin Zimmermann (Zuravlev, Lascheit), 1: 1 (14:18) David Lademann (Wellhausen, Slaton), 1: 2 (19:38) Harrison Reed (Suchomer, Reimer), 1: 3 (25:09) Adam Domogalla (Gauch, Verelst), 1: 4 (27:04) Victor Ostling (Reed, Rennert), 1: 5 (27:58) Thomas Gauch (Zuravlev, Lascheit), 1: 4 (27:04) 6 (31:05) Patrick Saggau (Lascheit, Zuravlev), 1: 7 (31:55) Yannic Walch (Domogalla, Habel), 2: 7 (32:40) Nico Lehtonen (Krymkiy, Drover ), 2:8 (34:45) Adam Domogalla (Schaludek, Verelst), 2:9 (45:46) Maximilian Schaludek (Verelst, Domogalla), 2:10 (47:22) Sam Verelst (Domogalla, Schaludek 5: 4), 3:10 (50:23) Konstantin Firsanov (5:4 Slaton, Seifert)
Hammer Eisbären – Herforder EV 2: 5 (0: 1, 1: 2, 1: 2)
Herford’s victory would have been golden if it had come earlier. Now there is only one game left, against Diez-Limburg on Friday, and even if that game is won, it won’t be enough for the pre-play-offs in the end. The game itself was balanced in the second third. Before that, the Herforders dominated the encounter without breaking away. She made up for that in the second third, took a 3-0 lead and held it to the end.
Goals: 0: 1 (06:22) Max Pietschmann (5: 4 Brinkmann, Biezaijs), 0: 2 (27:25) Ralf Rinke (Pöpel, Lehr), 0: 3 (29:56) Justin Unger (garden, Berezovskij), 1: 3 (34:19) Kyle Brothers (white leather), 1: 4 (48:56) Ralf Rinke (Biezaijs, Pietschmann), 2: 4 (53:40) Christopher Schutz (Roach, Otte), 2 :5 (58:55) Elvijs Biezaijs (Rinke, Pöpel ENG)
