Air traffic – Frankfurt am Main – Lufthansa Technik gives a review of 2021 and an outlook for 2022 – Economy
Hamburg (dpa / lno) – Lufthansa Technik had never experienced a worse result than in 2020: 43 percent decline in sales – and instead of record profits like in 2019, an isolated loss. In 2021, Lufthansa’s maintenance subsidiary returned to profitability, as the parent company announced when it presented its business figures last week.
Sales climbed 7 percent to 4 billion euros. Before interest and taxes, the Lufthansa annual report shows a profit of 163 (previously: minus 508) million euros in view of the recovery in passenger traffic. Lufthansa reports that the subgroup has 20,569 employees worldwide, almost ten percent fewer than a year earlier.
CEO Johannes Bussmann will provide details of the business results and an outlook on Wednesday (1 p.m.). For the last time, because Bußmann is leaving the Lufthansa Group on July 1 to take over as CEO of a large German technology company, as the company announced at the beginning of February.
Lufthansa Technik sees itself as the world market leader in manufacturer-independent maintenance, repair and overhaul of civil, commercially operated aircraft. Lufthansa Technik serves more than 800 customers worldwide, including airlines, manufacturers, leasing companies and VIP jet operators.
