Prague is announcing a program to help sports venues that have been hit by a sharp increase in energy prices – Cysnews
In connection with the continuing increase in energy prices and the associated increase in operating costs of Prague sports venues, the capital is announcing a subsidy program aimed at mitigating the economic impact on energy-intensive sports facilities. For these purposes, 25 million crowns will be provided from the Prague budget.
“For two years now, we have been facing an unfavorable situation, which is extremely difficult due to the pandemic, not only for sports operators, but also for the entire business segment. The sharp increase in energy prices, which is liquidating for many operators, did not contribute to this either. Prague is trying to respond quickly to these crisis situations and is creating short-term and long-term forms of support, which aim to help keep the sports field running. One of them is this program, which focuses on energy-intensive sports facilities in Prague, “ said Councilor m of Prague for sports Vít Šimral.
The subsidy is intended for extraordinary support of the operation of sports facilities, which is affected by an increase in energy prices by at least 50% compared to the previous year 2022. Specifically, these are swimming pools with a minimum length of 25 meters, winter stadiums and other sports facilities in the capital. However, it must be accessible to the public and at the same time serve for regular organized sports and physical education activities for children and youth. Another condition is that the operation of the facility must be ensured throughout the year with the support of the necessary technical outages.
The capital has set a minimum start of eligible costs of 50,000 crowns per application. On the contrary, the maximum amount of the subsidy for one applicant is 3 million crowns.
The application deadline is April 7-30, 2022.
All information about the program, including forms and other essentials will be available here: Sport and physical education (Portal of Prague) (praha.eu).
