More than 250,000 refugees have arrived in Moldova. The stories of those who seek to start over
Sabrina Preda, Sergiu Cora and Mihai Dina went to these centers where they found the impressive stories of those who care now are forced to start over.
Moldexpo Center in Chisinau. It is one of the largest centers for receiving refugees from Ukraine. Here they receive accommodation, hot meals, and a medical point where primary care is provided.
More than 700 refugees are now housed in central Chisinau. The volunteers helped a lot in this activity. With food, clothes and everything you need, and with a simple presence.
Because those fleeing the war are, in most cases, looking for support. That’s what Ana and Cristina said. Two 17-year-old girls who, when they are not at school, come to help those who have left Ukraine.
Aysel is a young woman who left Kyiv the day after the war began, along with her cousin and her parents. However, her house was destroyed, she hopes to return one day to recover her memories.
“We didn’t understand the whole situation from the beginning. Then we realized that the war had started and that we would leave everything behind. We don’t know if we won’t go home, if we won’t see our friends again, if we will go to school.” said Aysel.
There are another 700 refugees at the Chisinau Multipurpose Hall.
Tatiana and Vasili want to go to France, to their daughter. After the city of Odessa was bombed, they were forced to leave their home where they had worked together for more than 70 years.
“Two Russian planes attacked us, but fortunately nothing happened,” they said.
