GroenLinks and D66 unclear on Stemwijzer
One of the proposals on the Amsterdam-East Stemwijzer for the upcoming municipal and district committee elections on 16 March is about the Diemerpark. The statement was: ‘East urban district must urge the municipal council to have more sports fields in the Diemerpark.’ Kees Lakerveld of the Friends of the Diemerpark communicates communication.
normally everyone thinks that this statement is about the current number of sports fields in the Diemerpark. That’s six. If you think this is enough, you will of course vote against it. GroenLinks and D66 do the same.
But what do they say in their argument? GroenLinks: ‘GroenLinks believes it is important that there is sufficient space for sports in the district. Removing more greenery from the Diemerpark than is currently planned will be at the expense of nature and therefore not the solution.’ And D66 says: ‘Planned sports fields are sufficient. Leaving the tranquility of the park as it is to give nature space.’
In their argumentation, both parties therefore refer to the reserved sports fields. That’s ten. By speaking against the statement in the Stemwijzer, they give the impression that they are against expanding the current six sports fields, while in their explanation they say that they think ten sports fields is enough.
GroenLinks and D66 mislead the unsuspecting user of the Stemwijzer. We find this absolutely false of these parties. We have therefore asked them to rectify the information on the Stemwijzer.
