Zurich: Traffic restrictions due to Ukraine demo
In the city of Zurich today (03/05/22) a demonstration (see last report) is moving along Neumühlequai. There are traffic delays.
The demonstration procession stretches along Neumühlequai and Limmatquai.
There are still traffic restrictions along the route.
Update 2:50 p.m
The unauthorized demonstration train has arrived in District 4. The Zurich City Police are still on duty and are accompanying the event.
Update 2:26 p.m.:
Use of water cannons: After participants in the unauthorized demo tried to break through police barriers several times, the Zurich city police had to push back the crowd in the Löwenplatz area with water. A march in the direction of Sihlporte, district 4, is still possible.
Update 2:20 p.m.:
The participants in the unauthorized demonstration on Bahnhofstrasse could continue to block it, although they could walk freely on Uraniastrasse in the direction of Kreis 4. The Zurich City Police will point this out to you on site with dialogue teams and loudspeaker announcements.
Update 2:07 p.m.:
The unauthorized demonstration in connection with the Women’s Day of Struggle is currently stationary on Bahnhofstrasse, junction with Uraniastrasse. A march from Bahnhofstrasse to Uraniastrasse in the direction of District 4 is tolerated by the police.
Update 1:44 p.m.:
A group is calling for an unwilling demonstration in the Bahnhofstrasse area. The Bahnhofstrasse is temporarily closed to all traffic between Paradeplatz and HB. Please stay away from this demo and follow the instructions of the emergency services.
The Zurich city police are on duty on the Bahnhofstrasse with dialogue teams and loudspeaker vans and point out to the participants of the unauthorized event that a march in the direction of Uraniastrasse, Sihlstrasse will be possible.
Update 1:05 p.m.:
The demonstration parade has arrived at the Sechseläutenplatz. Traffic has returned to normal, but the Zurich City Police will remain on site for a while.
Update 12:10 p.m.:
The end of the parade is now on the Limmatquai after the Rudolf Brun Bridge. The Central is again open to normal traffic and Mühlegasse will be open again shortly.
