US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is coming to Moldova
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is coming to the Republic of Moldova, the Chisinau press reports. The visit of the head of the American Diplomacy will take place on Sunday, March 6, 2022.
Secretary of State Blinken will have a meeting with the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu. Subsequently, the two officials will hold a joint press conference.
On March 2, the US State Department announced that Secretary of State Blinken would be touring several European countries. He will visit Belgium, Poland, the Republic of Moldova, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia in order. All these countries, except the Republic of Moldova, are members of NATO. The US State Department said the talks in those countries were aimed at “consultations and coordination with allies and partners” in the context of Russia’s “unprovoked and unjustified” aggression against Ukraine.
The US official pursues and supports the United States for the “integrity and sovereignty” of the Republic of Moldova. This idea is reaffirmed in the conditions in which separatists from Tiraspol launched to Russia or a new request to recognize the “independence” of Transnistria.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is coming to a neutral country
The Republic of Moldova is a neutral country. Most recently, but before the start of the war in Ukraine, President Maia Sandu said that her country did not want to join NATO. However, the Republic of Moldova is supported by the USA.
On the other hand, on March 3, 2022, President Maia Sandu signed the request for the admission of the Republic of Moldova to the EU. Moldova’s request came immediately after Ukraine submitted a similar request to the EU.
