“In addition to gestures such as tram flags, signboards and repainted railings in the colors of Ukraine in front of the Russian embassy, we are taking concrete steps to help with DPP, ROPID and TSK in the area of transport. People fleeing the war have free public transport in Prague since Monday. With TSK, we select marginal less occupied car parks for free parking. We have given the Ukrainians in the DPP extraordinary rewards and we have given the management to prepare post-war assistance to the sister transport companies in Ukraine. We are already looking for buses and trams to send there, “said Adam Scheinherr, Deputy Mayor for Transport and Chairman of the DPP Supervisory Board.
“We are getting involved in helping Ukraine as much as we can. We offer the free capacity of our vehicles, we repair several buses a day and according to the requirements of the capital. We transport refugees from Ukraine between railway stations, accommodation places and all foreign police workplaces. We bring food or other necessary material or equipment for them. We wanted to get even more involved as a transport. We were inspired by the success of sales of U Prdlavky stop signs or the names of well-known Prague football clubs. We offer this special charity series of stop signs in Ukrainian colors not only to public transport fans, but also to all those who want to help the war-stricken Ukraine. We will send all proceeds from their sales to the collection account ‘Caritas for Ukraine’, which is organized by Caritas Czech Republic in cooperation with Caritas Ukraine. It will serve people affected by the war to provide basic living needs such as water, food, basic hygiene or shelter. We thank all those who purchase our charity boards in advance for their kindness and help, “said Ladislav Urbánek, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors and Transport Director of DPP.
In addition, DPP donates all 15 operational decommissioned and unsold T6A5 trams to partner transport companies in Ukraine. It will be possible to carry out the transport as soon as the security situation in Ukraine allows. Depending on the current situation, DPP will also offer Ukrainian partners operational city buses, which DPP will no longer need for operation in Prague or on suburban routes.
