Robbert Rodenburg (24), died in 2021 Expedition Robinson won, has over 13 million views on YouTube with his talk show Open map† He would like to dive into the Reguliers with his parents and loves the bread dip at Ceppi’s.
First time in Amsterdam
“I come from a very small village, so I used to be fascinated by Amsterdam. During my first time in Amsterdam I was 8 years old and still completely obsessed meet football; I bought a FC Barcelona shirt with my mother. We went to Madame Tussauds and walked through Kalverstraat and Leidsestraat. In the PC Hooftstraat a scene of murder women recorded, we walked through it. I thought that was fantastic.”
My neighbourhood
“I like to visit the busy city districts such as De Pijp or the center, but I now live in West. That’s what I like most about living. It’s pretty quiet and feels like a grown up neighborhood. You have nice restaurants, pubs and bars. When I still lived on the canal, I was always busy. I know myself very well, so I know that on a Tuesday night I’ll be sitting at a cozy pub if it’s across from my house. Now that I live in West, I notice for the first time that I am much more at home in the evening.”
Restaurant
“From Ceppi. When I came back from Expedition Robinson I was the first to eat there. They have a really nice burrata bread dip with stracciatella on the inside. The pizzas are fantastic and the pasta carbonara is very tasty too. In that respect I am really a Dutchman. If I often enjoy it and I know the ministry, I often fall back into the usual habit.”
An evening out with…
“My parents. I don’t think my mom has ever been to a club in her life, so I wouldn’t be doing her any favors. Still, I think it would be very nice to dive into the Reguliers with her. There are fond memories of me in the SoHo and the Exit. I would love to show my parents that.”
always want
“It’s pretty bad, but I’ve never been to the Rijksmuseum. That I want to do it again and then walk through it really well. I think the building is really beautiful. If you cycle under the Rijksmuseum at Leidse, you will see the Concertgebouw, the lawn and the museums on Museumplein. I really like that part.”
Best memory
“The pride. In my opinion, Amsterdam is at its most beautiful then. I will never forget my very first time. I was standing in front of a boat and I felt like I had won the Olympics, the World Cup. Everyone is cheering you on and everyone is full of love. by far my best experience ever.”
Most beautiful place
“The Gay Monument at the Westerkerk. Symbolically, I think that is a very beautiful and important place in Amsterdam. It is quite special that there is such a monument. The Westerkerk itself is really beautiful.”
Shop
“I like to visit Baskèts on the Elandsgracht. When I dress, I often go to smaller, multi-brand menswear stores. I never practically get to the Kalverstraat; it’s so busy there. I try to buy online as little as possible. I also learned that from home. My parents have it themselves to support important stores. “Otherwise, they might not exist in 20 years,” they say.”
Having breakfast
“Rainbowls is the best breakfast place in town in my opinion. It belongs to a friend of mine and they have delicious acai bombs.”
Cozy street
“I really like the Reguliers in the evening. The atmosphere is good there; you never have quarrels. During the day I like to visit De Pijp. I also like that street from the Gerard Dou to the Sarphatipark. There are many cozy pubs there, such as De Duvel van Pilsvogel.”
Best sandwich
“At Teds they have a chicken katsu sandwich, which is not normally tasty. I order that sandwich very often.”
Missed during corona
“The catering industry. Mainly sitting at a table in a restaurant until two o’clock in the morning. I think that’s the easiest thing to do. That you sit down at the table with your friends around eight o’clock, and then walk out the door around two o’clock and dive into the Regulars of the Cooldown. I often make a moment of dinner, preferably with friends. You really make me the happiest with that.”
