REVIEW | Fast @ Lotto Arena, Antwerp: Finally after 2 years of waiting (★★★★)
Dutch rapper Snelle announced his biggest own show in Belgium in 2019. This concert was planned for 2020, but then corona threw a spanner in the works. The show was broadcast three times. And as the saying goes: “Third time lucky” because on March 4, 2022, the concert could take place and we were there.
There was a lot of concern about the tickets leading up to the concert. The show was sold out after one day 2 years ago, but suddenly many fans got their tickets back online. Afterwards this turned out to be an unjustified concern because the Lotto Arena was well filled.
The show started with a support act, which we found very meager. The rapper Pjotr performed only 3 short songs. After which we waited another half hour before Snel actually started performing.
After the support act, his concert started with a mix of new and old songs. He pulled this concept all over the show door. Suddenly he called out a couple during the concert. The whole audience expected a marriage proposal, but it was just a sweet text. The couple was allowed to take a seat on stage later the song color bring.
And this was not the only surprise. Because Snelle had not come alone, because suddenly Jebroer, Suzan and Freek en Maan and many other artists were also on stage. For example, we were presented with several artists for one ticket. A very nice compensation for the 2 year wait.
A week ago, Snelle announced on Instagram that he will release a new single in March. And as expected, we got to hear the version for the first time during the performance. We are almost certain that it will be a hit because the text is very current.
At the end of the show, he handed out beer to his crew and threw a party in the Lotto Arena. Yes, from now on we can say that Snel is a real party animal and gets the whole room along. Our conclusion is therefore positive. A concert with different artists, full of surprises. It was well worth the 2 year wait!
