Prince Christian: – Breaks the silence about «champagne video»
On 15 October last year, the Danes’ Prince Christian turned 16 years old. Since then, it’s easy to imagine that he’s done like most teenagers – partying with friends.
In recent weeks, a video has flourished on social media in which the young prince sprays champagne over other teenagers while jumping and smiling.
Defectors: Crashed with the Crown Princess
The video was filmed at the private club La Folie Douce in Val Thorens, France.
Well, the Danish royal house has seen itself forced to comment on the viral video, and flatly denies that they will take action.
– Something we’re talking about
This is not the first time private photos of the young prince have spread on social media. Danish BT writes that in Denmark it is an unwritten rule that the press must not publish private pictures and videos of the royal children without the parents’ consent.
However, there is nothing to stop it from spreading on social media like TikTok and Instagram.
Do as big brother: – An honor
The Royal Family now denies that Prince Christian needs media training after the incident.
– We are very aware of the issue that is associated with being young and royal in a digital age. This is of course something we are talking about, also with the young people, writes the royal house’s communications manager, Lene Balleby, in a written response to BT.
The age limit for buying alcohol in Denmark is 16 years. However, to buy alcohol at restaurants, you must be 18 years of age or older.
– Inside
Both the crown prince couple and the court believe that the young royals should be allowed to make mistakes, and then learn from them, writes BT further.
– They know very well that they are specially exposed and that every mistake therefore becomes more visible than that of their comrades. These are their terms. Prince Christian and his generation use social media differently and adults, Balleby further explains.
– The most beautiful in the world
She also mentioned that the champagne video is «completely inside».
– Social media is their everyday forum where they share experiences, thoughts and feelings. It’s the way young people communicate. We must therefore be careful not to problematize something that is completely within what it is, which is normal and proper in the eyes of young people – and to see the young people’s activity on social media in the context that applies.
She concludes by pointing out that the royal family has not approached the profiles who have shared the controversial video of the prince to be the ones removing it.
Prince Christian is the son of Crown Prince Frederik (53) and Crown Princess Mary (50).
