As Boulogne-Levallois and ASVEL clash this Sunday, Monaco dominated Bourg-en-Bresse to put more pressure on the leaders of Betclic Elite. Strasbourg fell at Limoges, leaving Dijon and Le Mans to take the lead.
Monaco did not miss the opportunity. While the poster for the 21st day of Betclic Elite opposes this Sunday Boulogne-Levallois to ASVEL, the “Roca Team” has put itself in a position to take advantage of the situation. Sasa Obradovic’s players took the best of Bourg-en-Bresse to ensure they came back to match the team that would come out the loser. A meeting that Brock Motum’s teammates (25 points, 6 rebounds) turned in their favor in a one-sided second quarter. The Burgiens, thanks to Jalen Jones (19 points, 8 rebounds) tried to reverse the trend in the last ten minutes but it was already too late. Monaco won by nine points (93-84), inflicting on JL Bourg a third loss in four games. Just behind the Principality club, two teams remain in contact, Le Mans and Dijon. On the occasion of the reception of Paris, the MSB signed a fourth victory out of the last five meetings. Kyle Allman’s Parisians (20 points, 7 rebounds) nevertheless raced in the lead throughout the second quarter to take the lead at the break with a seven-point lead. The situation changed after the break with Dante Cunningham (22 points) who raised his voice and allowed Le Mans to get back into the game. It was in the last quarter that the MSB made the difference for a victory of thirteen points (95-82). Paris falls for the third time in a row and remains at the bottom of the ranking.
Dijon in the snatch, Strasbourg sunk
Like Manceaux, Dijon does not let the top three go. The JDA however had to pull away from Roanne to sign a third victory in a row. During the 40 minutes of regulation time, the two teams stand in respect. While the gap never exceeded seven points during the first three quarters, the Chorale probably thought they had done the hardest part with a margin of eleven points built in the last ten minutes. But Johnny Berhanemeskel’s teammates (23 points) saw their efforts come to nothing with Rashard Kelly (15 points, 9 rebounds) who equalized on a free throw three seconds from the buzzer to send the two teams into overtime. Five undecided additional minutes from which Dijon emerged victorious (96-100 ap). A success that allows the JDA to gain the upper hand over Strasbourg. The GIS has, in fact, fallen on the floor of Limoges. A meeting that the CSP tipped in a perfectly conducted second quarter, with a defense that conceded only nine points. With 17 points ahead at the break, CJ Massinburg’s teammates (24 points) could see but come Strasbourg, despite Jordan Howard (15 points) never had the weapons to come back. The SIG sees its series of three successes in a row come to an end (89-62) when Limoges confirms the start of an upturn.
Cholet continues, not Fos-sur-Mer
At the bottom of the table, Cholet took a step closer to maintaining thanks to a fourth consecutive victory when they received the penultimate, Châlons-Reims. A meeting whose fate is no longer fast is no longer in doubt. Broken down offensively, the CCRB only managed to score nine points in the first quarter. A deficit that has never been filled by Orlando Coleman’s teammates (13 points). Led by Peter Jok (20 points, 7 rebounds), Cholet Basket patiently built up their success and won by a margin of 19 points (75-56). Châlons-Reims remains in the red zone with the same record as Paris (7 wins for 14 losses). Fortunately for the people of Champagne, Fos-sur-Mer did not confirm their victory over Pau-Lacq-Orthez during their trip to Orléans. However, the Provençaux were able to start strong … before losing ground before half-time to find themselves tied when returning to the locker room. Jamar Diggs (16 points, 9 assists) kept their lead on the restart but OLB gradually raised their voices to take the lead ten minutes from the end of the game. Thanks in particular to Chris Warren (19 points), Orleans won by eight points (82-74) and found color.
