Will change the address of the Russian Embassy
The Conservative Student Association (DKSF) has sent a proposal to Bydel Frogner with the desire to change the address of the Russian embassy in Oslo.
In the proposal submitted by DKSF, they want the street name to be changed from “Drammensveien” to “Ukrainas gate.”
A strong signal
Chairman of DKSF (Conservative students in Oslo), Oscar Christopher Husebye, tells TV 2 that the reason for their desire for a name change is due to the war that is taking place in Ukraine now.
– It is a different initiative that I think will go into Russia and we want to mark our support through the name change. says Husebye.
The proposal from DKSF states that Norway also has a moral responsibility to stand up for Ukraine.
The association believes that the name change of the address of the Russian Embassy in Oslo will send a strong and lasting signal to Russia.
– In a war, it might be nice to talk about changes of street name, but I think that a symbolic name change can have little to say, says Husebye.
It was NRK who first mentioned the case.
Ukraine reminder on the business card
It is not only in Norway that these proposals have been put forward.
According to Danish TV 2 wants politician Jakob Ellemann-Jensen to change the address of the Russian embassy in Copenhagen.
Here a proposal has been made to change the street name from «Kristianias gate» to «Ukrainas gate».
Other parties in Denmark have also said they are the only ones in the proposal for the Danish Liberal politician.
In Lithuania, the rapporteur in the capital Vilnius, Remigijus Šimašius, also wants a name change, according to NTB.

In Vilnius, they want to rename the street name “Ukrainian Heroes’ Street”.
“The business card of every member of the staff at the Russian embassy will then have to honor Ukrainian heroes,” Šimašius wrote on his social channels.
Husebye from DKSF says they were inspired to send the proposal after they heard that the Danish politician Ellemann-Jensen had put forward his proposal.
– I think it is a good proposal, says Husebye to TV 2 and continues:
– The proposal has been sent to Bydel Frogner, and now it is up to them whether they want to set up the proposal or not.
The proposal for the street demolition will be presented on Tuesday next week. Apart from that, the District Director of District Frogner does not wish to comment on the matter to TV 2.
