The monstrous Russian kitsch does not disappear from the center of Prague: Do you like Matryoshka Klicka and Zelensky?
Although Mayor Zdeněk Hřib (Pirates) promised to turn the visual smog in the metropolis, matryoshka dolls and other “Czech” souvenirs “decorate” the center of Prague. Surprisingly, their fate was not sealed even by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. And it must be said that you will find really unexpected pieces here!
Sometimes, in the shadow of current events, we forget that the Czechia is a country of unimagined possibilities and a place where humor is at home. True, sometimes it’s quite ironic, sarcastic and black, but what else.
Perhaps only in Prague can a giant demonstration in support of Ukraine be prepared on Wenceslas Square, at which President Volodymyr Zelensky will also sound online, and a few streets away there are souvenirs available that have long since disappeared from the shops around Charles Bridge. The photographic Express was convinced of that as well.
Matryoshka dolls with the mayor of Kiev Vitaly Klitschko and the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenský are also available.
While the Ukrainian head of state will thank the Czechs for their support and help in his country, you can buy a Russian matryoshka with his portrait. Alternatively, take thanks for the one from which Vitaly Klitschko smiles at you, if you are cheering more on the mayor of Kiev.
Souvenir shops, which have in common with the Czech Republic only that they are available in its capital, are not disappearing even now. What’s more, they still offer the same goods, ie products aimed at (pro) Russian customers who went to Central Europe on holiday. Because what else to bring from Prague than just a Russian babushka, it will make sense …
Russian taste tastes the center of Prague further. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has not yet broken his neck.
It is not a nice sight, despite the fact that you would look for decorative wooden matryoshka dolls in Podkrkonoší, Vysočina or Kampa in the flow of centuries.
At present, although the owners of the above-mentioned establishments are not on their toes, after the pandemic, the Russians froze their way to change, but the war is still strange.
The question is how long it will take them. What about Zdeněk Hřib? Doesn’t it hit?
