People who help them, municipalities, non-profit organizations and those who have offered temporary accommodation can be directed to regional assistance centers to help Ukrainians. There are now three Central Bohemian ones in operation; however, there is great interest that more will need to be opened. “We already know that we will have to look for other places,” said President Petra Pecková (STAN) on Friday.

There is a queue, it is better to come without children
The centers of the first contact with the Czech authorities coming to the Ukrainians to complete in one place a number of formalities and necessities: registration, the obligation to report to the Aliens Police is already fulfilled, health insurance, work permit. If you have nowhere to go, you will also be contacted for accommodation. It is also possible to deal with social benefits, to obtain the help of paramedics (this is provided by regional paramedics at both locations in Central Bohemia) and psychological help. Ukrainians can go anywhere free of charge: to travel around Central Bohemia and the capital, just show your Ukrainian passport.

The contact points for Ukrainians set up by the region now operate 24 hours a day at the Congress Center of the Central Bohemian Region Gallery in Kutná Hora (Kremnická 239/7), at one of Mladá Boleslav’s primary schools (17 November 1325) and in Prague. There, a joint contact center with the municipality was originally opened in the library building in the metropolis – but it soon became clear that the space there was not enough for a huge onslaught. Since Friday morning, it has been operating in the Prague Congress Center – entrance number 10 (May 5, 1640/65; directly at the Vyšehrad metro station). In the morning, the regional office arrived when no children under the age of 15 were taking there: a huge queue, estimated at about 800 people, had formed. It didn’t do without standing outside for a long time, and it snowed at times.

The region has prepared millions for transport from the border
Many newcomers from Ukraine are now on the way. To facilitate their arrival, Central Bohemian councilors set aside five crowns to provide evacuation buses for transporting refugees; mainly for their transport from the Ukrainian border. Based on the requirements of the region or humanitarian organizations, the services of carriers will be ordered by IDSK – Integrated Transport of the Central Bohemian Region. “I believe that together with the remedy, we will be able to get as many people as possible fleeing the Russian aggression from the Ukrainian border,” expects Regional Councilor for Public Transport Petr Borecký (STAN).

, when the Central Bohemian Region recently had 88 women and children from a number of Volhynian Czech communities living in the vicinity of Zhytomyr taken away from the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, the situation was well received at the beginning of the week. Now Andrej Babiš (YES), whose team is involved in the evacuation operation, has informed that another six buses with about 250 compatriots have managed to travel from the Zhytomyr to the border with the parliamentary union. They headed for the border with Slovakia (the first expedition originally went there, which eventually ended up on the border with Hungary for security reasons).
