New reception location for Ukrainian refugees
As of today, the municipality of Amsterdam will also receive Ukrainian refugees in the Savoy Hotel in Amsterdam South. This concerns 104 new reception places for the term. The A&O hostel will also remain available for reception this weekend. There are currently 131 Ukrainian refugees living there. The municipality is also making room for refugees from Ukraine at other locations in the city.
Many people have fled because of the war in Ukraine. The municipality of Amsterdam has immediately promised to receive Ukrainians. Amsterdam wants to be a hospitable city where Ukrainian refugees are safe and can relax.
Assignment
It is not yet clear how many refugees from Ukraine will come to the Netherlands. The Ministry of Justice and Security has instructed the 25 Dutch Security Regions to make short-term reception places available per region.
More than just shelters
In addition to organizing municipal shelters for Ukrainian refugees, Amsterdam makes it possible for all its inhabitants, including those who receive social assistance benefits, to offer Ukrainian refugees. The municipality does this by offering tailor-made solutions for the latest cost-sharing standard. The customization means that Ukrainian refugees do not become co-residents if a person entitled to social assistance wants to take them in temporarily. Amsterdam calls on other municipalities to do the same.
