Make your school accessible to Ukrainian children, the mayor of Prague 6 asks the Russian embassy Company News Pražská Drbna
last week, the Russian Federation attacked a free and sovereign Ukrainian state. This brutal and inexcusable act explains the need to “denazify” Ukraine, but the whole world can watch the clear evidence that the real Nazis are not sitting in Kiev, but in the Kremlin.
As a result of your regime’s barbaric aggression in Ukraine, hundreds of thousands of people are fleeing the country seeking refuge in neighboring states, but to the great astonishment – not in the Russian Federation. Most of these refugees are women, children and the elderly. People need to be taken care of, these children need to go to school and schools.
The Russian Federation owns the school building in Bubeneč. This building is empty, the Russian school run by the Russian embassy is closed.
I hereby urge you to make the building of this school, founded by the first Czechoslovak President Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk for members of the so-called White Emigration, which fled the Soviet Union in the 1920s from the Bolshevik regime, terror and non-freedom, open to Ukrainian children who were forced to leave their homeland due to the violence and war that unleashed your country there in the 1920s, or the criminal regime it represents in the Czech Republic.
I expect, Ambassador Zmejevský, that you will hear this request without delay. The Czech Republic is very happy to help educate Ukrainian children in terms of democratic thinking, the rule of law and respect for fundamental freedom and values. We are happy to explain to Ukrainian children the difference between totalitarianism and freedom. In addition, I am of the opinion that these children are more than clear about who behaves like a Nazi.
Providing a school for Ukrainian children would be only a small but very important part of your repentance. As Ukraine’s ambassador to the UN said – war criminals do not expect purgatory, they go straight to hell. I totally agree with him.
But I believe that the Russian people will wake up and get rid of the criminals who drew it into a war comparable to the rage that the last Nazi Germans unleashed in Europe.
I give you and your leaders no hope, yet I believe that you could make at least one right decision and provide the school to Ukrainian children.
