Erica Caluwaerts (Open Vld): “Helping Ukrainian refugees find a job as quickly as possible” | Antwerp
Caluwaerts released figures on Friday about Russian companies in Antwerp and about all companies that export to Russia or Ukraine. According to Graydon, there are only ten companies in the city of Antwerp with Russian shareholders, with a minimum share of 10 percent.
The Foreign Trade Agency has 512 companies in Antwerp that export to Russia. There are 391 companies in Ukraine. No less than 362 exports to the two countries. “We are open to consultations with these companies and their sector organizations when the war has a heavy impact on them,” said Caluwaerts.

Antwerp also has many international companies with personnel in Ukraine, often top talent working in the besieged capital Kiev. Caluwaerts: “This includes consulting and tech companies that call on developers. Those companies have already offered to keep those on the run as employees. But we will also guide refugees who have to give up everything to find a job as quickly as possible. Experience shows that Ukrainians quickly pick up on our language. That is very positive.”
