Prague 5 is ready to provide accommodation for asylum seekers from Ukraine

At its meeting yesterday, the Prague 5 City Council decided to provide 21 flats for asylum seekers fleeing the war plagued by Ukraine. The Security Council of the Prague 5 District was also convened yesterday to address the rescue coordination of security and forces, the accommodation of asylum seekers from Ukraine and security issues concerning the citizens of Prague 5.
The Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic activated the Migration Wave Preparedness Plans. Now there is a situation where it is necessary to intensify assistance to incoming Ukrainians. This applies in particular to the Administration of Refugee Facilities, Integration Centers and non-profit organizations providing services to foreigners. In coordination with the City of Prague and the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic, flats will be offered to citizens of Ukraine coming to the Czech Republic by the Prague 5 City District.
“At the moment, we have set aside 21 flats to help people fleeing Ukraine. Some of them are ready for use, the rest will be ready in a few days. We will be in close contact with the City Hall in this matter. m of Prague and its crisis management. At the same time, we will be looking for other accommodation options for our hard-pressed Ukrainian friends, “says Lukáš Herold, Deputy Mayor of the Prague 5 District, responsible for housing (ODS).
It is expected that mainly women, children and the elderly will come from Ukraine. It will therefore be necessary to ensure everything in their care, including pre-school and compulsory schooling, as well as crisis intervention, psychosocial assistance and medical assistance.
“I am sincerely moved by the cordial help that the people in Ukraine are offering. As a woman and a mother, I know how difficult it must be to flee to an unknown country and not know what will happen next. The citizens of Ukraine, close to their families, have found themselves in a difficult life situation, and I, together with my colleague, are ready to help, “says Renáta Zajíčková (ODS), mayor of the Prague 5 district.
