Canton creates contact point | Canton Zurich
The Security Directorate has received numerous inquiries from civil society. Many do not want to stand by and actively help. “I am very impressed by the signs of solidarity,” says government councilor Mario Fehr.
Refugees and those in need of protection are taken in in a coordinated manner by the federal government. As a rule, refugees are first registered in a federal center before they are prepared for life in the communities in cantonal transit centers. The Canton of Zurich expects the Federal Council to quickly activate status S for those in need of protection. That would allow for a more flexible approach.
The canton of Zurich will create additional capacities for refugees from Ukraine, who will be assigned to the federal government. Preparations are in full swing. The cantonal social welfare office is responsible for accommodation and care and coordinates with the municipalities, the migration office, the cantonal police and other agencies. All options for quick and unbureaucratic help will be examined.
For questions, the cantonal social welfare office addresses a central contact point. It also accepts offers for private accommodation and passes them on to the communities. The Ukraine contact point can be reached via [email protected] and telephone 043 259 24 41 (Monday to Friday, from 8.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. and from 1.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.).
