Project leader Geological Survey of the Netherlands | TNO
Every country in the world has a geological survey, an organization that systematically collects, interprets and makes available geological information with two main goals: understanding natural capital and natural risks. In the Netherlands, this mainly concerns natural capital, such as energy, groundwater, building materials and underground space. Yet natural risks, which often manifest themselves in our low-lying country as a water problem, cannot be eliminated; think, for example, of subsidence and soft soil. The Dutch Geological Survey is part of TNO. We provide information about the subsurface of our country on behalf of the national government, and we carry out assignments for third parties, both lower-level implementation and companies/knowledge institutions. We carry out part of our work in EU work projects.
The Geomodelling department, in which approximately 55 professionals work, is an important activity in the systematic mapping of the structure and properties of the subsoil, for changing soil and groundwater storage.

What we expect from you
As a project manager, you get energy from maintaining and expanding connections with existing (and new) clients, including (decentralized) implementation, water companies and engineering firms. you take care ofthe day-to-day management of projects and employees. You identify in budget, planning and quality of the results and you actively act on this. Naturally, you include management in this.
What else you bring:
- An M.Sc. in Earth Sciences (eg Geology, Physical Geography, Hydrology,…).
- At least 5 years of results in the earth science domain, of which part in leading (complex) projects.
- Proven capabilities in writing project proposals and has a feel for the associated legal aspects.
- A curious mind, with a pragmatic attitude.
- A good social antenna, you can easily contact payment clients.
- Given our clients, a good command of the Dutch language is a must.

What does the process look like?
You can respond until March 20. The application procedure consists of two interview rounds. The first round is scheduled for April 1. In a final meeting, we discuss the terms of employment that you compose yourself. We aim to complete an entire procedure within four weeks.
