Overwhelming willingness to help in Frankfurt for Ukraine
SSocial department head Elke Voitl (Die Grünen) was overwhelmed by the willingness to help the people of Frankfurt for refugees from the Ukraine. The administration received numerous offers of help, from a translator who wanted to interpret to property owners who were willing to provide living space, Voitl said on Monday.
According to her, no refugees from Ukraine had contacted the city and asked for help by midday. It is possible, however, that some of them have already stayed privately with relatives or friends. Anyone wishing to provide accommodation can send an e-mail to [email protected] register. If necessary, employees of this central contact point reported and clarified everything else.
Painkillers, bandages and masks needed
On Tuesday, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., aid supplies for people in Ukraine will again be collected at the main station. Above all, drugs such as paracetamol and ibuprofen, but also bandages, plasters, bandages, bandages and mouth-nose masks are needed, says Jumas Medoff, who coordinates the campaign. The first vehicles with donations in kind drove off towards the Polish-Ukrainian border at the weekend. Textiles are currently no longer needed.
The Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt (VGF) expresses its solidarity with the Ukrainians on the electronic displays and on the screens of the ticket machines in stations and at bus stops. According to a VGF spokesman, the mechanical flag is shown there, combined with the best wishes for the country: peace, freedom, friendship and democracy. The message in which the VGF announced its verbal support ends with the sentence: “Long live Ukraine!”
