a restorer from Bérat, south of Toulouse, is appealing for donations
Thousands of kilometers from the clashes between the Russian army and the Ukrainian army, Occitans are organizing to come to the aid of the refugees. A dozen restaurants in the region, for example, proposes to collect donations to then send them to Eastern Europe. This is the case of Mathieu Herengt. It is also this pizza maker, at the head of the pizzeria “La Tute a pizza” located in Bérat, who is at the origin of this operation carried out this Friday, on social networks.
And since Mathieu sent this bottle to the sea, about fifty people came to his pizzeria to bring him tins of food, sanitary ware, and even food for dogs and cats. “At the moment we have collected 15 tons of goods”rejoices the restaurateur who acts in partnership with Alliance Occitanie Ukraine.
It is this association which, from Montpellier, centralizes all donations. It is also from there that must leave, next Saturday (March 5), a semi-trailer. “The truck’s destination is Poland, where Ukrainian refugees continue to arrive”laments Matthew.
According to the UN, since the start of this war on Europe’s borders, Poland has taken in more than 300,000 Ukrainian refugees.
