“Our predecessors in the management of Prague established cooperation with Sberbank in the last election period. This was probably a consequence of a situation where a number of banks on the Czech market refused to accept deposits, “said Vyhnánek, according to which the metropolis has long ago begun to reconsider this cooperation with regard to possible geopolitical risks.
“This led, for example, to the withdrawal of the city’s long-term deposits last year. On the eve of the invasion of Ukraine, we also transferred all available funds in the amount of 620 million crowns to other banks. At the same time, we terminated the savings account, which left 160 million crowns, which we could not transfer immediately. These are two per mille of the financial capital of Prague and we are actively solving their future with the Ministry of Finance and the Czech National Bank, “added Deputy Vyhnánek.

The Vysočina region, which has collected its tax revenues from accounts with Sberbank and currently has more than two billion crowns deposited there, is threatening significantly greater damage.
Sberbank is the largest Russian bank with a dominant state share. According to the Měšec.cz server, there are two other banks with Russian capital operating in the Czech Republic – Expobank and Revolut. In both cases, however, they are private owners. Both banks openly protest against the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
