DIJON: “We have to break the clichés about so-called masculine professions”
The Carrefour des Carrières au Féminin, the employment forum allowing women in jobs with few women to speak to teenage girls and women looking for a professional project, returns face-to-face this Saturday, March 5 in Dijon.
This action supported in particular by the European Social Fund, the Regional Directorate for Women’s Rights and Equality, the Regional Council of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, the Departmental Council of Côte-d’Or and the City of Dijon has been organized since 1998 by Women Equality Employment (FETE)
This departmental event, which has already taken place in the Yonne in January and in the Saône-et-Loire last February, consists of presenting themselves to schoolgirls, high school girls and women looking for jobs in traditional trades exercised by men, requested they do not think spontaneously.
After a year in dematerialized version, the forum returns to face-to-face, but the experience in video-conference mode of 2021 will be maintained this year as we explain Juliette Bonnotte one of the leaders of FETE
“Indeed, it’s a very interesting format, which finally allowed schools that couldn’t travel on the day of the forum, to simply connect to the videoconference live or in replay. So we are going to renew and extend the concept. A video will be offered for the crossroads of women’s careers in Dijon in the coming weeks. It will also be accessible to the general female public who will also be able to connect, but the date remains to be determined.
Is there really a demand from women?
Juliet Bonnet : “Yes there is a real demand and often women are not informed of the diversity of professions in which they could possibly be”. This forum really allows them to widen their scope of possibilities and then to find a job, because often the so-called masculine professions are also professions where there are not a lot of people asked about them. So there is demand, and it allows all these women looking for a professional project to find work quite easily and to exercise a profession that they will like.
Become a firefighter or web project manager
“This forum allows everyone to come and sit at the speakers’ table to be able to talk about their job. We will have security people such as police officers, gendarmes or even firefighters, but also people working in the IT field such as web project managers who are very few women. And then we will also have a bus driver and many other professions represented. It’s really an opportunity to come and discover them with these professionals who are very proud to talk about their profession, and to break the clichés about so-called masculine professions.
