Prague has approved a subsidy of 65 million services for dependent people – Novinykraje.cz
PRAGUE – The Prague addictology services for this year and other long-term programs will receive tens of millions. The councilors of the capital of the Czech Republic decided. The money will go to long-term services, programs and this year’s events.
Addiction treatment and involvement in society
Prague councilors discussed the provision of subsidies for addictology services and other long-term programs. A total of 64 applications for subsidies were received. Prague wants to support projects in its city districts to combat addictions, field services, day hospitals and prevention programs, and has set aside 65 million for this.
17 different organizations and 13 city districts of Prague applied for subsidies. Subsidies in excess of 200,000 crowns have yet to be approved by the Prague City Council. The money will go primarily to services that focus on positive changes in behavior or attitudes and lifestyle changes in drug users and other addictions. Support will also be given to programs for the treatment of further integration into society in the area of drug policy and the minimization of health or social risks associated with the use of addictive substances.
Increased support for addictology services
“According to current research, 30 percent of the total number of problem drug users in Prague are in the Czech Republic, so we must address the negative effects on both individuals and public health. In addition, illegal drug users are aging over the years, leading to worsening health and social problems, which increases the demands on services. For this year, we have therefore increased the volume of addictology services by seven million crowns. In addition to reducing the negative effects of addictions, the key result of the activities of addictology services is also the beginning of the path to treatment and abstinence, “said Milena Johnová, a councilor for social policy.
