Boris Vain and Rudy Rinaldi tell us about their Olympic Games
The Monegasque athletes descended to their sixth place in the two-man bobsleigh, a historic performance for the Principality.
Boris Vain and Rudy Rinaldi can be proud of them. The Monegasque bobsledders have performed at a very high level in Beijing by finishing 6th in the two-man event. The result is historic: it is simply the best ranking ever obtained by Monaco at the Winter and Summer Olympics.
Beyond the symbolism, the Monegasque crew competed with the best nations in the discipline, flirting for a time with the bronze medal. The whole Principality vibrated for them and held its breath. Upon their return, Boris Vain and Rudy Rinaldi have moreover been welcomed as recognized heroes as well as the infatuation suffered.
Years of hardship and sacrifices
Wearing the Principality’s colors high and having no regrets: this was the objective set by Prince Albert II for the Monegasque delegation before leaving for Beijing. Regrets, do they have any at the time of the balance sheet? The two athletes do not have the same analysis. One thing is certain: both were keen to show their true level after multiple injuries and a real way of the cross in their careers. It succeeded.
“A year and a half from the games, nailed to my hospital bed after an operation, I told myself that I would never come back”
