Toulouse: what is this green CritAir sticker that you can see stuck on some bikes?
The “2 feet 2 wheels” association, which campaigns for the development of soft modes of transport such as cycling, has made a CritAir sticker available to its members a few days before the implementation of the Low Emission Zone. This system, which comes into effect on March 1, 2022, aims to gradually exclude the most polluting vehicles from the city center and part of the western ring road.
With the establishment of the Low Emission Zone (ZFE) from March 1 in Toulouse, motorists must equip themselves with a new sticker to attach to the windshield. In the form of a circle of different colors, this distinction makes it possible to sort the “clean” vehicles from the most polluting.
From March 1, within the perimeter of the city and the western ring road (from Bordelongue to Minimes), vans, vans and heavy goods vehicles with Crit’Air 5 and unclassified labels will be prohibited from entering this area. . The stated objective is to organize the progressive exclusion of the most polluting vehicles by 2024. The Toulouse association “2 feet 2 wheels” which has ardently defended soft and non-polluting modes of transport has decided to take over of this subject. “In 2017, we had already printed these vignettes when vehicles were equipped with this badge during days of alternating traffic, particularly in Paris, but with the ZFE we relaunched the device”, recalls Sébastien Bosvieux, vice-president of the association. “2 feet 2 wheels”.
A major enthusiasm
More concretely, cyclists and pedestrians, members of the association, were able to obtain this round green sticker. “There is a real enthusiasm around this idea. Many people ask how to get it”, slips the vice-president of the association. Of course, this sticker is not “official” but “it makes it possible to note that those who use these means of transport contribute to the reduction of pollution”. As a snub to this device, the association of cyclists “copied the sticker” to show that bicycles and other soft means of transport are indeed non-polluting vehicles. Faced with the strong interest of many road users, the members of the association plan to “develop the concept” and make it accessible to a greater number.
The first stage of March 1 will then be followed by that of September 1 where vehicles with CritAir 5 classification will be added to vehicles equipped with Crit’Air 4 stickers before the deadline of January 1, 2023 cars and motorized two-wheelers will begin to be concerned (in addition to vans and trucks). On this date, Crit’Air 4, 5 and unclassified vignettes could no longer roll. These are, for cars, gasoline from before 1997 and diesel from before 2005.
