It will first concern the most polluting vans and vans (classified Crit’Air 5 from the 1uh March 2022 then Crit’Air 4 from 1uh September 2022). Traffic restrictions will then be extended to private vehicles with the same classification at 1uh January 2023 then to all vehicles classified Crit’Air 3 to 1uh January 2024.
Accompanying measures have been put in place by Toulouse Métropole to help motorists acquire less polluting vehicles. “We wanted an effective, progressive ZFE that takes into account the difficulties encountered by certain sectors. It is the result of in-depth consultation, carried out since 2019, with Toulouse residents, recalled Jean-Luc Moudenc, Mayor of Toulouse and President of Toulouse Métropole. This consultation enabled us to precisely identify the situations requiring certain descriptions. We have taken this into account while remaining firm on the conditions to guarantee the effectiveness of this system, the primary purpose of which remains to improve air quality for all the inhabitants of our Metropolis. »
The Mobility Orientation Law (LOM) and then the Climate & Resilience Law have made it compulsory to set up low-emission zones (ZFE) from 2021 in ten French cities (6 of which are currently covered by a ZFE: Rouen , Paris, Strasbourg, Lyon, Grenoble, Nice), and planned the gradual deployment of ZFEs in thirty-three new urban areas with more than 150,000 inhabitants by the end of 2024 (including 2 that are currently covered by a ZFE: Reims, Saint Etienne).
