Sweden-based IKEA India appoints Susanne Pulverer as the first female CEO
Sweden-based IKEA, the world’s leading home furnishing retailer, announced on Wednesday that Susanne Pulverer has been appointed its first female CEO (CEO) and Sustainability Manager (CSO) for its India operations.
Powders will replace the outgoing IKEA India CEO and CSO Peter Betzel, IKEA said in a statement.
This will be the third time in India for Powders, which started at IKEA in 1997 and worked with various roles within the Ingka Group company.
Before starting her new role as IKEA India’s CEO, Pulverer held the position of Group Manager for Business Risk and Compliance at the Ingka Group.
“I am happy to be back in India, as we approach our vision of creating a better everyday life for the many people. India is a priority market for the Ingka Group.”
“Peter and the team have done a truly commendable job of introducing IKEA in India as a custom brand, expanding the omnichannel presence across cities, strengthening local purchasing and retail expertise and so much more,” said Pulverer.
She added that the company will continue its journey to further expand and establish IKEA as a meaningful, loved and trusted brand in India and keep the company’s long-term commitments in 2030 in focus.
The outgoing CEO of IKEA India Peter Betzel said: “It has been an incredible experience to be a part of IKEA India’s journey. I have had the support of an excellent and dedicated team, and I want to thank them all for their relentless efforts during these never before seen times. “
Betzel added that India’s love for IKEA has also been humble. “I’m extremely happy to be able to leave the baton in the hands of Susanne (Pulverer).”
Pulverer had begun her IKEA journey as environmental manager for the IKEA Group and went on to IKEA of Sweden, the product development company where she had different roles in different business categories.
She then moved to India in 2007 to lead the purchasing function for IKEA South Asia, during which she developed a strong connection and passion for India and its people.
“Before joining IKEA India again in 2017, Susanne (Pulverer) was the CEO of IKEA Communications, IKEA’s internal agency, for five years, during which she led the organization through a major transformation to create better business and staff results,” it said. stood.
Powders in her last role in India led market development for Delhi-NCR, where she also pursued the sustainability agenda and local community initiatives.
IKEA India, part of the Ingka Group, opened its first store in Hyderabad in August 2018, followed by a store in the Navi Mumbai store in December 2020. This year, it plans to open another store in Bengaluru.
In addition, it is also available online in Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Gujarat and Bengaluru.
