Prague has been sending “energy blackheads” illegally since March
From 1 March, door-to-door sales of energy will be banned in Prague. The capital was able to approve the relevant regulation thanks to last year’s amendment to the Energy Act, which allows such regulation.

Until this year, municipalities could only ban door-to-door trading in “classic” goods under the Trade Licensing Act, as many local governments, including Prague, have done.
According to councilors, the purpose of the new regulation in the energy field is to protect Prague residents from the so-called “energy bastards”, which offer seemingly advantageous, but in fact extremely disadvantageous contracts. “After the collapse of a number of energy suppliers, such as Bohemia Energy, we, as mayors of the city districts, had signals that door-to-door sales of electricity and gas are starting again. to protect the risk groups that energy savers choose primarily – we want seniors or single mothers from their manipulations, “explained Petr Hlubuček, Deputy Mayor and Mayor of Lysolají (United Forces / STAN).

The ban approved by the Council applies to door-to-door sales – as well as to “off-premises offering and provision of services in the course of a licensed activity by a licensee or in the provision of intermediary activities in energy sectors under the Energy Act” throughout the capital.
A similar sale of goods and provision of services refers to a regulation where the situation from the apartment is offered without previous goods or is offered and offers offered services. The walk-through sale then relates to publicly accessible places in the same circumstances.
The councilors accepted the intention to reduce energy service providers as early as January and have now given it a definitive form. “We consider it important to protect the most vulnerable groups as soon as possible, which is why we have agreed to an abbreviated comment procedure,” said Hana Kordová Marvanová (United Forces / STAN), a member of the City Council for Legislation.
Her colleague Jan Chabr (United Forces / TOP 09) presented possible concrete forms of manipulations used by so-called energy blacksmiths. He stressed in the first place that they rely on people’s ignorance. “They let them sign a general authorization, which then means automatic decision-making on behalf of the client whom they will have as a contractual partner,” Chabr warned.

After signing the authorization, the dubious suppliers can automatically exchange the tariffs. “These are practices on the edge or beyond the law. It is necessary to be as careful as possible, because they pretend to be regular suppliers, “Chabr appealed.
