Hannover 96 coach Christoph Dabrowski warns: The madness continues against Kiel – 2nd Bundesliga
Good mood with the Reds. “I hope you’re calm now,” said Christoph Dabrowski (43) on Monday morning and grinned.
The long overdue goal explosion succeeded in the 3-0 win over St. Pauli. Dominik Kaiser, Sebastian Kerk and Sebastian Stolze shot away the goal backlog of the past few months.
A short time ago, 96 was the most harmless team in German professional football (1st, 2nd, 3rd league). Now the Tor knot has burst. 2-2 against Darmstadt, 3-0 at the Kiez – 96 scored five goals in two consecutive games for the first time this season. And the victory would have been even better if Cedric Teuchert, Kerk and Linton Maina had taken their huge chances.
“Three goals, that’s good,” said the 96 coach. The Reds (28 points) climbed to 12th place, but are only three points ahead of 16th place (Sandhausen/25 points). Friday against Kiel 96 can take the next step out of the basement.
Don’t let up! Dabro are already waiting for the Kiel game just 21 hours after the final whistle – and warned his squad: “The madness will continue on Friday. We can’t rest on that for long, need points. It’s about consistency. The manner was good, we have to confirm that at home. It goes on and on.”
The 3-0 win in St. Pauli was Dabro’s fourth win in eight second division games. In the Dabro table of the last eight games, 96 improved to 6th place with 14 points (average 1.75) – tied with Schalke and just one point worse than HSV.
Also strong: For the fourth time under Dabro, e 96 manages to keep a clean sheet. Overall, it was the ninth league game without conceding a goal.
Dabro: “To keep a clean sheet, that’s also important. That gives stability and a good feeling that you have defended well.”
At St. Pauli, this was achieved with the unusual back three (Marcel Franke, Julian Börner and Jannik Dehm). A tactical feat by Dabro. Secure at the back, fast as an arrow in front – St. Pauli found no means against these strong Reds.
Things can go on like this against Kiel. It would be crazy if the victory at the table leader was followed by a home defeat…
