BELGRADE 2022: Greece with a 6-member mission in the world indoor
Same mission as that of the 2016 World Indoor Championships in Portland to send Greece to Belgrade.
We have entered the final straight for the world closed (March 18-20) and things are almost clear about the Greek mission. Miltos Tentoglou (length), Emmanouil Karalis (short distance), Costas Douvalidis (60m hurdles), Rafaela Spanoudaki (60m) and Irini Vassiliou (400m) will definitely be present. These five already have the limits for the event and do not have to wait for the ranking. Beyond that, Katerina Stefanidi also has the limit (nearby) but she has not competed yet. She has not yet made public her intentions, but most likely she will not fight.
Of the others, Costas Zikos (60m) is closest to everyone in qualifying and as the things that will be a member of the Greek delegation show.
On the contrary, despite the public position of the high sports committee for the women’s 4x400m mission, the decision of the National Coach is different. Although there is no qualifying limit or ranking for participation, no Greek woman has gone down to 54 seconds this year and based on that, Christos Meletoglou judged that the team can not be registered in Belgrade.
Despite the small mission, the chances of discrimination are high. Tentoglou in the length was a favorite for a medal and Karalis in the short has his way in the big games to always be good, especially in the indoor where in the 2018 world he was 5th and in the 2019 public he was 4th.
