At the end of their wits in front of the goal: Harmless Black Stars lose against efficient Zurich players
At the start of the second half of the Promotion League on Saturday, Basel lost 3-0 to FC Zurich U21.
The first half between FC Black Stars and FC Zurich U21 on Saturday afternoon is actually a typical 0-0 game, characterized by intense duels in the middle zone. The fact that the score was still 0-1 after 45 minutes is thanks to a lack of concentration from Basel, which Kedus Haile-Selassie forgot after a short corner at the front post. “That shouldn’t happen to us,” says coach Branko Bakovic.
The Black coach’s mood didn’t get any better after the change of sides, because after just two minutes Ricardo Farinha e Silva brought down the 1-0 goal scorer in the penalty area, who made the preliminary decision from the point. “A blow to our morale,” admits Bakovic. Although the attitude of his team is right until the end, the stars are at their wits end near the FCZ goal.
The efficient team from Zurich show how it’s done, using Luka Frei’s last chance to make it 3-0 in the 79th minute.
The Black Stars continue next Saturday at 3 p.m. against FC Breitenrain.
