Prague – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is preparing another medical aid to Ukraine in the amount of ten million. This was stated today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský (Pirates) at a press conference after the meeting of the crisis staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to him, the ministry is setting up two working groups, one will evaluate the situation in Ukraine, the other humanitarian aid and its preparation. Today or Monday, the office wants to issue an updated recommendation for travel to Ukraine, the text of which the office is finalizing. The Minister again called on the Czechs not to travel to the country.
After the meeting of the crisis staff of the ministry, which met for the third time, the minister said that the office carefully considers all possible scenarios and evaluates their probability.
He called on Czech citizens to be protected against misinformation concerning the situation in Ukraine. According to him, Russia is creating scenarios that could justify a possible invasion of Ukraine. He described as part of the misinformation, for example, information from this week that Russia began to withdraw part of its troops from the border with Ukraine. In fact, according to him, the number of soldiers has increased, according to available information, their number is approaching 200,000.
According to him, the ministry will issue an updated travel recommendation today or on Monday. Officials are now finalizing his text, so Lipavský did not comment on it. But he called on the Czechs not to travel to Ukraine. If they are in the country, we should consider an accelerated return, as more and more airlines limit flights to Ukraine. In the Drozd system, in which travelers can register, the ministry registers 114 Czech citizens who currently live in Ukraine. The Office is in contact with them.
According to Lipavsky, the Czech embassy in Kiev remains open and a consul, for example, remains in place to make consular activity available.
The last time the crisis staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs met on Monday. Since then, tensions in eastern Ukraine have risen and Western countries have been the subject of widespread war. Czech diplomacy has once again called for a peaceful and diplomatic solution. Russia has called for the situation to stop escalating.
One week ago, the ministry warned Czech citizens not to travel to Ukraine and Belarus. The office recommended that the Czechs who are in these countries leave. He also tightened up the activities of the embassy and consulate. Family members of the embassy staff had already left Kiev. According to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Working Group on the Situation in Eastern Europe Martin Dvořák (STAN), more than 20 employees remained at the embassy on Monday, and about 30 at the Consulate General in Lviv. The consulate should be strengthened by four more employees.
