Three-year framework agreement between the University of Siena and Opera Laboratori
A framework agreement was signed in recent days involving the Department of Business and Legal Studies (DISAG) and the Department of Historical Sciences and Cultural Heritage (DSSBC) of the University of Siena and Opera Laboratori.
The agreement aims to create a solid and shared basis for collaboration regarding the creation and development of joint initiatives in the field of cultural heritage and management over the next three years.
The initiatives of the collaboration include activities aimed at Master in Cultural Heritage Management (MAPAC), now in its second edition, whose registrations expire on March 1st. The MAPAC Master is a II level course, which can be accessed with a master’s or specialist degree, and is also organized with the effective and fruitful collaboration of the Municipality of Siena.
The first edition of the master saw the participation of twenty students, the same had an immediate employment within internship programs which then, in some cases, into permanent employment contracts.
The Master intends to train cultural heritage operators who are particularly competent in business and sector aspects related to the management of cultural heritage. The professional figures of reference are represented by the staff of cultural institutions, by administrative and managerial roles for the management and enhancement of cultural heritage, by jurists and operators of the art market, by consultants for the culture sector.
The MAPAC Master provides participants with the necessary technical-scientific skills to professionally manage cultural projects ranging from the local to the international context and will have an interdisciplinary approach, involving three reference training macro-areas: business, legal, archaeological and artistic.
Thanks to the precious support of Opera Laboratori in the realization of the Master, the second edition will start next time, the framework agreement will be able to foresee forms of collaboration that may concern other study courses of the University of Siena and which will translate into forms of knowledge, the provision of curricular and extra-curricular internships, advanced training apprenticeship contracts and the organization of cultural events and initiatives of common interest with a national perspective as well.
On the occasion of the lectio magistralis that the Dr. Barbara Jatta, director of the Vatican Museumsheld on the occasion of the start of the teaching activities, more details will be provided on the forms of collaborations that will concern the second edition of the MAPAC Master.
In this regard, pending the official presentation press conference, the Director of the Maestro Prof. Angelo Barba underlined the importance of the collaboration with Opera Laboratori “for the creation of a master who has demonstrated, already with the first edition, to create a significant cultural value for the reference territory. This value will be able to increase and develop by consolidating the collaboration strategies in place and including other institutional subjects active, at city level, in the cultural heritage sector. A special thanks goes to Prof. Roberto Di Pietra who, as Department of Business Studies and Director, has supported and moves the Master Mapac with attention and profound institutional sensitivity. Six scholarships to partially cover the tuition cost and the amount of € 2,200.00 each have been made available by the University of Siena. Applications for grants must be submitted by 7 March next.
