Temperature monitoring and ‘black box’. Firefighters in Radotín, Prague, are testing safer emergency suits iROZHLAS
Firefighters from Radotín in Prague are testing new emergency suits. You will recognize them at first sight. The green lights are on the breasts of the firefighters they are wearing. The suits have several clever features that increase safety when intervening. So far, firefighters have tested them, for example, in a traffic accident, but a large stress test is yet to come.

The new emergency suits are full of sophisticated electronic systems. The whole garment is illuminated by diodes on the reflective strip in the chest and sleeves, the control is provided directly to the garment or application.
What can smart firefighter suits do? Listen to Kristýna Vašíčková’s report
The lights work in three modes – strobe flashing, slow lighting and steady lighting. The emergency function then notifies you of a critical situation in which it may find itself. Just tear off the safety bar on the left collar and the red strobe alarm will start flashing.
Furthermore, the system sends a preset SOS SMS message with GPS coordinates to up to three preset phone numbers.
The suits also monitor the outside and inside temperature. “One of the most common injuries of firefighters in firefighting is scalding. The firefighter is sweaty and the sweat may heat up to such a high temperature that he leans on his own. This system protects it because it monitors the internal temperature under the suit, “describes Luděk Prudil, director of Prague fire brigade, for Czech Radio Region.
Location location or a “black box” will also help increase security.
