Photographer Olivier Anrigo at a signing session in Monaco
On the occasion of the release of his book Arktic Circle, a work celebrating the beauty of the Arctic, photographer Olivier Anrigo will be at a signing session on Saturday February 19 at 4 p.m. at Fnac in Monaco.
Passionate about nature and animal photography, Olivier Anrigo goes on an expedition around the world to capture moments of life and fragility.
In 2018, he unveiled the grandeur and riches of the Maasai Mara African Reserve in his book Safari in Kenya.
Then, between 2013 and 2018, he took part in five expeditions to the countries of the Far North, from Lapland to Spitsbergen and from Norway to Finland.
After these several years of expeditions and observations in the heart of the arctic circle was born arctic circle ; a book of 95 photos in which we find unique images of glaciers and nature, accompanied by short texts written by scientists who share their experience in the field.
This photo reporter, wildlife lover and committed to the environmental cause, has witnessed in recent years the devastating effects of global warming on the polar regions, and therefore hopes to raise awareness with the mission of preserving this beauty and richness. Raise awareness, not blame.
Surrounded by specialists, climatologists and glaciologists, he wishes to show the urgency of the situation: the fauna and flora are in danger, our sumptuous landscapes are in danger.
So it’s not just a collection of images, “it’s a co-construction with scientists who come to flesh out a more general project, Arktic Interactions”.
It was with the help of Arctic experts that he created the program Arctic interactionsin which are brought together talents based on photography and scientific knowledge.
They also launched a crowdfunding campaign on the “Ulule” platform, which has now ended, the funds for which may be used to program new actions such as photo exhibitions, to organize conferences and workshops for young audiences, and depending on the funds, lead a new expedition to the Arctic in order to give life to a project of educational documentaries.
In addition, on each book ordered, two euros are reversed for the implementation of concrete actions to protect the poles today threatened.
Olivier Anrigo also reveals in an exhibition in Monaco the result of these five years of work to raise public awareness of the richness of the polar lands, and above all the need to preserve them from global warming.
Until February 25 at Espace 22: 24 boulevard d’Italie.
