Chiara Taddei has already been part of some large orchestras
Chiara Taddei, 23, in the “Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester” one of the most prestigious in Europe. She plays the Horn. “I’m in seventh heaven”
They did not choose each other, but the spark immediately struck between Chiara Taddei, 23-year-old musician from Gromo, and her horn. She was a child when she, following in the footsteps of her brother, decided to start playing an instrument, and for the needs of Gromo’s Musical Body, her choice fell on her horn. Since then, the young woman has come a long way, and in recent weeks she has become eligible for the “Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester”, a youth orchestra based in Vienna, and one of the most prestigious in Europe. «I didn’t dream of being a musician as a child – she says – she and the choice of the horn was completely random. My brother had started playing the trombone, so I decided to try something too and the Gromo band at the time needed horn players. It was love right away, and it was easy to understand that I would follow in the footsteps of music growing up. While I was attending the scientific high school, in 2016 I graduated from the “Luca Marenzio” conservatory in Darfo Boario Terme, and after high school I decided that I would continue with my musical career ».
The beginning of his studies with Nilo Caracrist, an internationally renowned horn player, and the transfer to Verona to follow the lessons in the conservatory.
«I entrusted myself to my teacher, Nilo Caracristi – she continues -, who still follows me as a teacher at the“ Evaristo Felice Dall’Abaco ”conservatory; in fact, I am attending a master of specialization in Verona, where I moved. Over the years there have been several training experiences that have allowed me to grow: I was in Norway, for some lessons with the teacher Frøydis Ree Wekre, and I had the opportunity to be part of some great formations. These include the “I Virtuosi Italiani” orchestra, the “Luigi Cherubini” youth orchestra foundation directed by Riccardo Muti and the orchestra of the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza; I also took part in the recordings of the Rai Tre program “Che storia è la musica” with Ezio Bosso, and I am permanently part of the “Italian Youth Orchestra”, based in Fiesole, in the Florentine area. In November 2021 I then auditioned to be admitted to the prestigious “Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester” orchestra, and when the positive outcome arrived a few weeks ago I was in seventh heaven. It is a dream for all young musicians, and includes a series of calls for spring and summer tours to be held throughout Europe. It will be an experience lasting about a year, and I am already looking forward to it ».
The dream in the drawer? Becoming an orchestral with a stable occupation. «The road is still long – concludes the 23 year old -, but I still consider myself very lucky. The experiences gained over the years, the support with a good teacher, who was able to guide me, and the commitment and perseverance have brought me to where I am now. I spend many hours of the day with the instrument in my hand, because you never stop learning, and I hope one day to become a professional musician in all respects ».
