Several reported meetings with a total of one hundred participants took place on Saturday, February 19th, 2022, in the city of Hanover without any major incidents. The police were in action with a large contingent to accompany the assembly law actions.
The police employed four properly reported meetings on Saturday afternoon in the state capital of Hanover.
At around 2:00 p.m., an elevator started in the area of Pfarrlandplatz in the direction of the city center under the motto “Demonstration and commemoration of the victims of Hanau”. A peak of 650 participants ran along a certain route to Steintorplatz, following the call of a private individual. At around 3:15 p.m., the elevator then joined a stationary meeting at the Steintor with the motto “Two years after Hanau”. The DIDF-Jugend Hannover called for this. Since a large number of participants in the first meeting had left in the meantime, they comprised around 560 people at the Steintorplatz. At around 4:26 p.m., the meeting ended on its own.
At 2:35 p.m., a motorcade set off in the Ricklingen district of Hanover. 135 participants in 80 vehicles drove under the motto “Basic Law, Freedom, Self-Determination” on a coordinated route through the city and back to the starting point. The parade ended at around 4:25 p.m.
At 3:20 p.m., an elevator from the “Walk to Freedom” initiative started moving on Opernplatz. Up to 135 people live on a fixed elevator route through the city center and back to Opernplatz. After a final rally, the leaders of the meeting declared the action over at around 5:30 p.m.
Apart from minor verbal provocations, the lift from the Opernplatz also went largely smoothly. In the Schmiedestraße area, the police had to push away some troublemakers to prevent a meeting. Nobody got hurt. /R.A.M
