He also thanked the new Commissioner General Filippo Francini and all the staff of the Commissariat and Pavilion, who, despite this enormous loss, decided to carry on the Expo 2020 Dubai project and to continue with great strength and conviction. The Sheikh then focused his attention on the context of the Pavilion, the structure through which San Marino presents itself to the world every day through its people and its attractions. An exhibition space provided in part by the students of the University of San Marino, which invites visitors to discover the modern innovations of the oldest Republic in the world and the Treasury of Domagnano, calling it a “testament to the wealth of the country”, which they are happy to to be able to exhibit one of the original pieces at the Louvre in Abu Dhabi. Their Excellencies Francesco Mussoni and Giacomo Simoncini in turn reciprocated the thanks to the host country, underlining the spirit of deep collaboration and friendship shown through the concrete support that allowed the construction of the Pavilion and the consequent participation of San Marino in this global. In fact, numerous meetings took place during these months of the Expo, among the most significant the one with the Commissioner General of the United Nations Maher Nasser, with the director of the World Expo Museum Amina Ying Ma, up to that with the Minister of Tourism of Brazil. Gilson Machado Neto, which resulted in a cooperation agreement in tourism with the seventh world power.
The day was also enhanced by the cultural performances of the San Marino Flag-waving Federation and the concert by Monica Hill, Sara Jane Ghiotti, Valentina Monetta and Giostremia who made us feel at home 5000 kilometers away in an area of the world that is culturally and geographically very far from us. Between the notes of Romagna mia and San Marino Goodbye, combined with the sound of trumpets and drums of the parade in which the two Olympic medalists Alessandra Perilli and Gian Marco Berti also took part, San Marino impressed the streets of Expo, recreating an atmosphere quite particular and fascinating of its kind. As remarked by the director of the Pavilion Letizia Cardelli: “The Republic has shown the world all of itself. And above all, a team that welcomed Heads of State, Ministers – San Marino and Emirati -, press, delegations, sponsors, visitors and friends, making them perceive, in every moment, the strength of one of the smallest countries in the world: that, unique , of the relationships we are capable of creating. This is why Expo gets to know San Marino: the people ”.
