It will not reopen on Wednesday… and not later either. Closed for three years now, the nightclub Carpe Diem, located on the Gauré road in Balma, will be permanently erased from the map of the world of nightlife in Toulouse.
An open-air nightclub
While the nightclubs – which have once again been closed since December 10 in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic – can reopen this Wednesday February 16, Le Carpe Diem will therefore disappear from the landscape for good. A major project started at the beginning of February 2022 to restructure the site, and completely rehabilitate the building.
With a large terrace, this open-air discotheque, formerly baptized the Ephemeral Club, was a meeting place for clubbers from the Pink City, where it hosted many DJs. The nightclub made headlines after a gang rape filmed in its parking lot in 2018.
Shortly after this case, the establishment was put up for sale, and has finally found buyers, who have undertaken major work on site.
A beach bar will be set up instead
To “make a clean sweep of the past” and turn the page on Carpe Diem, the site will completely change its style and concept. Exit night fever, it’s a beach bar of a new kind that will be installed here. It will have a large space of approximately 650 m2 of interior surface, and above all 800 m2 outside, where it will be possible to come and sip a few drinks, but also to eat.
Opened by pub managers
The establishment will be opened by the managers of the black lion, from botanist pub and four monkeys, three of the most popular pubs in Toulouse, which will therefore move away from the English “smog” to import to Balma “a jungle spirit”.
If the name of the brand has not yet been defined, these entrepreneurs, determined to “break the codes” of catering in the Pink City, promise to breathe an atmosphere into it. as vegetal as tropical, with careful decoration. This place of “reunion” will also take on an event vocation.
The opening is sensitive in the month of Junewith the firm intention of clearing a place under the coconut trees before the summer season.
