Toulouse. The war memorial will move. here’s why
The July 14 commemorations will no longer take place on rue de Metz near the François Verdier metro station. The Toulouse monument to the dead will have to move. Here’s why.
The war memorial located at François Verdier in Toulouse will have to move. The information is confirmed by the agenda for the next Tisséo trade union committee which is due to meet on Wednesday February 16 from 9 a.m. The document mentions the authorization to sign the contract for “project management for the movement of the monument to the glory of the combatants”.
This move is justified by the arrival of the third metro line in the area. The metro station there will have to be enlarged on the model of what already exists at the Jean Jaurès metro station. Thus, passengers could transfer between the two lines at this level.
Other solutions have been put forward before reaching this point. In particular the idea of dismantling the stone arch only for the duration of the works. Obviously, they were discarded. The place where the monument to the dead of Toulouse will be installed has not yet been decided. The subject was to be raised during the union committee.
