Toulouse. The Fenix reserve imposes its law on Lyon Caluire
The Fenix course training center continues its excellent after its tenth victory of the season (3 defeats only) – the sixth in the last seven games – acquired on Saturday at home against Lyon Caluire (34-24). This is the sixth success for Romain Ternel’s men in seven games played at the Palais des sports. Although roughed up at the start of the game (4-7, 10th), the teammates of Simon Laurent of Valors accelerated in the middle of the first half to regain control after passing a 6-1 to their host (10-8, 22nd). “We started very badly offensively then we got back into it with the return of Matt (Piovan, editor’s note) but overall the first half was not terrible”, sums up the Toulouse coach.
A decisive defensive trio…
In front at the break (14-12) despite everything, the Fenix then found themselves again at the score just under twenty minutes from the end (18-19, 39th).
A good defensive reaction, in the wake of the Jargeac-Firmesse trio and the young U18 Adrien Oulieu, then allowed Toulouse to take off definitively. Well protected in his goals Laurent de Valors did the rest (12 saves in the second half) to allow his team to pass a crippling 9-1 to the Lyonnais who then probably gave up physically (27-20, 52nd) .
Made available to the Nationale1 by the staff of the first team to enjoy a little playing time, left winger Théo Jarry (10/11) and right-back Matthieu Marmier (5/8) provided their cost. Ialy Ralambofiringa, born in 2005 but who plays with the Fenix under-18 team, meanwhile continues his learning at an even higher level. Finally winners of ten goals without making their best copy of the season, the Toulousains are surfing on a dynamic which offers them solid guarantees before the derby in Nîmes. So much the better, because the Fenix, which had easily won in the first leg (30-23), is apparently expected there…
