Formula 1 | As he moves to Monaco, Norris confirms pay rise
Lando Norris has completed his move to Monaco after buying a new apartment in the Principality. He is now a resident of Monaco and he admits that his new salary at McLaren will help him!
“I have now moved into my mansion!” jokes Norris, as he and McLaren have announced a new long-term deal which will see him stay with the British team until the end of 2025.
“My little apartment in Monaco actually… it’s lovely, I have a great view.”
“I haven’t been there much yet, I’ve been at McLaren for a few days now, and there was the car launch, simulator work, ceremonies, all that.”
“But yes, everything has been sent, there are still a few boxes to unpack and what goes with it.”
When asked if he had anticipated his move with a pay rise to go along with his new contract, Norris confirmed. Unsurprisingly, he did not reveal details of his salary.
“Let’s say yes, this new salary will certainly help me a little more in Monaco!”
“But like all contracts, it’s something normal. If you have a good season, then naturally your rating will go up a bit, especially if there are opportunities from other teams. Money, it’s something that always helps but I won’t tell you the amount of my salary!”
Despite this increase, Norris said that the financial aspect was not his main motivation.
“I know everyone says it but honestly, it’s not the most important thing to me. I’ve always said that my pleasure and my happiness come first, and that’s always, for me, the choose the most important.
“That’s the deciding factor in all of this. I had said before that I didn’t want to move to Monaco, but things are changing and, with that, my happiness and enjoyment come first.”
