A Luxembourger recounts the life of Goldman
Dany Geer discovered Jean-Jacques Goldman by chance, “one Tuesday around 6:30 p.m.”, when he was “11 or 12 years old”. Since then, the Luxembourg author has become a fan of the singer. From his passion, he draws a very original book, “Jean-Jacques Goldman, maker of songs”.
The one who did not want to designate “an umpteenth biography” of the French artist, known for his popular hits, paints a portrait of Goldman by sharing his texts. Certain titles of the chapters also evoke songs, such as “Since you are leaving” or “Le ballet”. Personal impressions and often poetic digressions ensue.
Via the lyrics, but also anecdotes drawn from his research, Dany Geer, who has previously published novels, offers his personal vision of the singer. He delivers his analysis of the songs, with a very communicative passion. A beautiful tribute intended for fans, who “will discover their favorite singer in a different light”, as well as the curious rocked by Goldman’s songs during their young years.
• “Jean-Jacques Goldman, maker of songs”. Dany Gerer. Literary presses, 17 euros.
