Bordeaux s’incline à Lens et passe lanterne rouge
For the 24th day of Ligue 1, Lens received Bordeaux. The perfect match for Franck Haise’s men who had doubts for a few games and who therefore had the opportunity to revive against a Bordeaux team dying in the Championship, without a coach while waiting for David Guion, and with the worst defense of the five major championships. For the first (and last) of Jaroslav Plasil on the bench, the former Bordeaux player decided to align the ex-Lyonnais Marcelo in the central defense. For their part, the Lensois presented themselves with a team without surprise with the tenure of Kakuta, Fofana, Doucouré or even Kalimuendo.
It didn’t take long to understand why the Girondins were in 20th place at kick-off. And the presence of Marcelo has changed absolutely nothing. On the first Lensoise opportunity, Kalimuendo already had the fault and therefore opened the scoring (1-0, 10th). A few minutes later, after a poorly controlled tackle from Mensah, the referee whistled a penalty for Lens. A penalty that easily transformed Gaël Kakuta (22nd). And as if that were not enough, five minutes after this goal, Seko Fofana sent a missile into the skylight of Gaëtan Poussin, substitute goalkeeper in the absence of Benoit Costil (3-0, 27th). A sad spectacle for Bordeaux supporters and a new defeat on a large score that was looming. Only Alberth Elis gave his team a little hope by adjusting Farinez perfectly at the half-hour mark (1-3, 33rd).
Bordeaux new red lantern
The goal of the Honduran international had the merit of reviving the band a little to Plasil who also decided to change tactics by switching to a three-man defense. And when they returned from the locker room, the Bordeaux people continued to push and even ended up coming back to score thanks to Hwang Ui-Jo. The Korean striker, once again, adjusted an unstoppable strike on the ground and left no chance for a helpless Farinez on this one. This but was a fair reward for a technically fairer Bordeaux against Lensois who were more and more doubtful. Aware that his team was retreating too much, Franck Haise also decided to make changes.
The entries of Ganago and Berg work well for Lens who regain control of the ball. Ganago did not go far from sealing the victory for his team, but Poussin intervened well (67th). The Bordelais tried to come back to the score, but subsequently lacked the conviction and rhythm to be able to really move a well-placed Lensoise defense which was just waiting to project itself on the counter. In vain. The score will no longer move. Despite a slight reaction, Bordeaux fell again and remained the only last in the Championship and could fear relegation more than ever. Lens finally revived and moved up to 8th place.
